Robert Pim Butchart was involved in the Owen Sound Portland Cement Company, the Lakefield Portland Cement Company, the Vancouver Portland Cement Company and the B.C. Cement Company, among others.
His wife, Jennie Butchart, created what is now the Butchart Gardens on their estate at Tod Inlet.
Robert Butchart‘s entry in the 1917 edition of Who’s Who In Canada And Why says he was a Freemason (it says “Society: A.F. & A.M.). He must have become a member of Lodge in Ontario although Grand Lodge of B.C. & Yukon records show that he never affiliated with any Lodge in B.C.
Many of his business associates were in the Craft, including: Sir Frank Stilman Barnard, Edward Gawlor Prior, Edwin Tomlin
